Vocations

What are you called to do? What is God calling you to? That is what the Church means by vocation. We believe every person is born with a calling, a God-given plan for their lives, but that they also have freewill in how they respond to this invitation from God.

Discovering your individual call, and responding with generosity – that is the heart of every vocation, whether it is to serve God as a priest, or religious, or through married, or single living.

NOV, the National Office for Vocation, exists to support the Church’s work of vocation throughout England and Wales, in both general and particular senses. It produces promotion materials for priesthood and religious life and is also responsible for maintaining several websites with vocational content.

A call needn’t be a big drama, often it is a process of gentle spiritual discovery, a growing desire to serve God.

Vocations Sunday 08

Every year the Catholic Church has a global day of prayer for priests, those in religious life and people considering how they've been called by God
