Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS)
As of July 2008, the Catholic Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (COPCA) ceased to exist and the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service was launched as the national agency for safeguarding within the Catholic Church in England & Wales.
CSAS has its own website (www.csas.uk.net).
E-enabled Policies & Procedures
After nearly 12 months of editing, rationalising, simplifying and developing, the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS) has launched the National Safeguarding Policies and Procedures of the Catholic Church in England & Wales as an interactive electronic manual.

By providing the procedures manual in this way the Catholic Church is not only further demonstrating its transparency in this vital area of work but has also produced a state of the art resource for Diocesan Safeguarding Co-ordinators and Officers to assist them in their work.
The Cumberlege Commission
Chaired by Baroness Cumberlege, the aim of the independent Cumberlege Commission was to review the way the Catholic Church in England and Wales responded to Lord Nolan's report: ' A programme for Action' (2001). It looked specifically at how the Church implemented the 83 recommendations made to improve the arrangements for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
