In 2006 the Bishops of England and Wales launched a £12 million fundraising campaign, Faith in the Future, to support a range of initiatives including strengthening family life.
The success of this venture provided thirteen dioceses with resources with which to undertake capacity building family ministry projects aimed at strengthening parish communities and encouraging families as leaders. Grants were also awarded to nominated diocesan staff to undertake Master’s studies in Leadership for Family Ministry and Faith Formation. The work completed from 2008-2011 has impacted the lives of over 12,000 people.
The funded diocesan projects have significantly raised local awareness of marriage and family life issues, helped parish communities to become more sensitive to families’ needs and stimulated the growth of active volunteer networks.
The short film above provides a visual testimony to this ground-breaking work.
