Pope Francis in South Korea

Pope Francis arrived in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, on Thursday, 14 August 2014 for a five-day papal visit to the country. The Holy Father was in South Korea during the Sixth Asian Youth Day held in the Catholic Diocese of Daejeon. As well as meeting and praying with young people, Pope Francis beatified Paul Yun Ji-Chung and 123 martyr companions at Gwanghwamun Gate in Seoul. He also met the President of the Republic, Park Geun-hye at the "Blue House" in Seoul. The Holy Father visited a rehabilitation centre for disabled people at the "House of Hope" in Kkottongnae and met with religious communities, Asian bishops, and various dignitaries.
